ACT I · POV: THE SELF, BEFORE LANGUAGE
Before color, there was silence.
and inside the silence — a small, warm, refusing light.
POV · stranger at the 17 bus stop
A kid walks past me with rainbow laces.
I almost say something.
I don't.
this is not my story.
— but I'm in it.
ACT III · POV: THE SIGNAL INSIDE
whisper
a thread of color, sewn through the inside of your ribs — by someone you haven't met yet.
ACT IV · POV: THE MIRROR DISAGREES
every reflection a different lie — and not one of them yours.
ACT V · POV: THE ROOM GETS SMALLER
smaller. quieter. safer?
you learned to fold yourself like a paper crane.
every crease — a small, swallowed scream.
POV · GOVERNMENT FORM 4488-B
override accepted by ·
the future
POV · MOTHER
I named you something.
I rocked you to sleep saying it.
And then — slowly — I learned the new one.
And it fit you better than I ever did.
ACT X · POV: FALLING THROUGH OLD NAMES
a moment of silence.
POV · YOU, IN 2042
Hey. It's me.
The version of you you didn't think existed.
I'm forty. I made it.
I have a kitchen. Mugs that match.
Someone who knows my name — the real one — and uses it like a song.
don't quit on us tonight.
becoming
unfolding
yours
I stepped out, and the world had color again.
ACT · POV: THE FIRST DAY OUTSIDE
The sun didn't ask.
It just landed on me — the whole spectrum at once — and called it morning.
ACT · POV: TRAIN WINDOW, 7:14 AM
outside, the world stopped being only two colors.
and then I rose.
ACT · POV: ROOFTOP AT GOLDEN HOUR
I said my name out loud.
and the city, for the first time, said it back.
ACT · POV: WHEN THEY SAID THEY UNDERSTOOD
"I love the new you."
They said it like a knife wrapped in a card. Smiling. Already turning away.
ACT · POV: THE STRANGER ON THE CORNER
"GO BACK."
I did not. I kept walking — and the sidewalk did too.
ACT · POV: THE WALL THAT APPEARED
They closed in — gently.
